20-21 September

two day adaptive surf clinic

This Adaptive Surfing clinic is primarily a grassroots wave riding event for disabled people. These events will be the first stepping stone for any individual with a physical or intellectual disability who wants to pursue a surfing life style. The goal of the clinic is to connect the disability community with the surfing community and to find common ground to grow adaptive/parasurfing within South Africa  to host more parasurf competitions and adaptive surf clinics on more beaches in the future.

The Clinics will be hosted over 2 days. Day one will be a focused discussion on the future of South African parasurfing followed with a parasurf demonstration with the Weskus Krewe parasurf team. Day two will be a surf and engagement day where participants will have access to our seasoned water assistants and will be encouraged to surf as much as possible and to ask questions. Extreme Abilities links up with the Pelgrims from the Healing Wings Recovery center in Paternoster for our weekly adaptive surf sessions, the cooperation in the water has established a working system for disabled surfers needing assistance to navigate currents and to paddle for waves.

The Weskus Krewe is joining the Adaptive Surf clinic in Victoria Bay

After their tour to Durban this team wants to go back to Victoria Bay, set on the camp site on the West terrace that overlooks the scenic Right point wave break of Victoria bay that boast the best camp site for any surfer. The team of disabled surfers from Saldanha can always do with support on their surf missions as everyone is on social well fare and rely on good will and stoke of sharing with others to experience surfing equally.
